Sanction Meeting Highlights

We ended up with our planned 3 spring dates and one fall date. The spring dates are all triple dates. Kind of hard to avoid when Motocity has 14 events on the calendar. The fall race is the last of the year and is a single date. The Enduro and Trail Ride ended up in the same relative place they were last year.

Club Meeting Minutes, November 31, 2004

Attendance –  13

Current Members; Mark Brunsberg, Bob Chase, Ken Fastner, Roy Fleming, Scott Haraldson, Jon Kemnitz, Matt Leebens, Mike Murphy, John Otto, Tom Peterson, Paul Spears, Mike Wells

Prospective Members – John Nori (2nd)

·         7:09 – Meeting starts at the same time for second month in a row.

·         Club Clothing – no progress since last time, but we don’t really need them until spring anyway. On a related note, Ken Fastner got some quotes from Decal Works. We’ll probably order a set of stickers with the club name on them for club members.

·         Wells – Still hasn’t happened. Probably won’t be done this year.

·         Track Series – The promoters at Mora were not interested in partnering for a series. If we have our own, it would probably be 4 of 5, with each race entry going into a drawing for prizes. It’s still in the very early planning stages. We still maybe able to partner with Little Falls or Brookston.

·         There was some discussion about expanding the micro track. The vehicles that are on it now are much faster than the PW50s the track was originally designed for.

·         Ken Fastner has been using his own brush-hog when working on the trails. Since he bought the machine with his own funds, not the club’s, he asked that the GIA money that is paid for using the machine be paid to him. The members present agreed.

·         Hunting on the track - There are quite a few locals who have been hunting on the land. Since they can claim that some club member gave them permission, it was decided to post No Hunting signs with Tom Peterson’s phone number. If someone is hunting there and claims to have permission, they better have a story of a recent conversation with Tom. At the moment, the only non-club members ones that have permission to hunt there is Dick, the owner of the neighboring Suzuki shop, and anyone who is with him.

·         The list of members who haven’t paid dues for 2004 was reviewed. Most were also noticeably absent from any club activities or stated that they no longer wished to be in the club. The following people are now former club members: Mark Griffith, Rick Peterson, Mike Pierson, Andy Solnitsky

·         Ideas for a club party were briefly discussed. We may go out in public somewhere this year. If you have ideas or suggestions, find out how much it will cost and bring it to the next meeting. It will probably be late January or February.

·         A strategy for the Sanction Meeting was formulated. This included a discussion about whether to have the Trail Ride. It was agreed that we would have it again, but will try to change the parking and what trails are used.

Annual Meeting Highlights

·         There was a really good club turn-out which really helped get our agenda. Thanks to everyone who made the trek to Little Falls

·         There are now 5 club members on the board. Our club rep, Greg Nelson, Trail Vice Chairman Ken Fastner, Vice-President Bob Chase,  Enduro Rep – John Otto, and 125 MX Rep Ross Thompson.

·         No classes were added to any venue. The four-stroke classes were eliminated in Enduro.

·         Not too many club members at the banquet other than Bob Chase, who defended his 9s plate, thus saving a costly re-numbering expense. He did once again barely lost out on the unofficial “slowest guy with a single digit number” award, thanks to the new 45+A class.
