CLUB
DUMP! It appears that someone decided to use the club fire pit as his personal
dump again. They left a nice sleeper sofa, a leather sofa and a mattress or
two. If this was a club member, please come up and get your garbage and bring
it to the dump yourself. Skip Olson spent a considerable amount of time
cleaning that mess up this spring and now someone has started to use our track
as a dump again. Lets try to keep the place looking like a race track, it's not
a dump.

Last
Saturday (Sept 19), we got the new barrels in place and plumbed up to use the
new pumps. We ran 1000 feet of irrigation line off each pump and will now be
able to water all of the track with the exception of the sweeper cut-off, we
need to do a little more work back there. I will be picking up the new water
hoses this week and will bring them to the track in next week or so.
Here is an
update on the track:
·
The
new irrigation system is mostly installed, all that is left to do put the new
hoses in place, which we will do on the Saturday before the last moto.
·
The
grass has been cut, thanks to Skip.
·
The
buildings are all painted and look good, thanks to all that worked on that
project.
·
The
outhouse needs something to lessen the smell.
·
We
need some people to do some weed whipping around the starting area.
·
We
need to take the lovely couches and mattresses to the dump.
·
The
snowmobile club is scheduled to flag for the last moto, we’re paying them $EDITED
FOR WEB.
·
Rob
is going to do the grading again, I’m looking into other options for next year.
I’d like to use a bigger machine that can do more work.
·
I
will not be at the track the weekend before the last moto either, it’s our
anniversary.

No fence materials yet purchased for Hwy 70

Scott
Haraldson asked if there was any interest in having a KTM Demo Day at the track
sometime. Was asked if it could be the day before our next race. If not, we’ll
try to schedule it next year.

Secretary
was asked to send out copies of the roster. It’s been well over a year since
this was last done. Those of you that have email will receive the complete
roster in the form of a Excel spreadsheet. Those reading this after opening a
hand addressed envelope, here’s another reason to join the 21st
century, or at least the 90s, and get a computer.

Yesterday
was mileaging day and so I finally got to see all of the Trails that MOTR put
in. It was interesting for me to see
what they did vs what we did and so I
thought that you might be interested too.
Here goes.
a. They have 4 or 5 sections of tight popples,
tighter than any that we have. I
actually had to get off of my bike to make one of the turns in Jack Potter's
tight popple section.
b. They don't have as many hills as we do.
c. They use quite a few segments of grown over
and wide open logging roads
d. They make sure that they have a log crossing
or two in every woods section.
e. They have two or three BIG log crossings, one
of which I could not execute, one of which I made but was 50/50.
f. After the Enduro, their trails will be hard
to string together without arrows because of all of the road connectors.
g. They have almost exactly as much mileage as
we do, 22.5 miles. Total Enduro mileage will be 45.00.
h. The ground isn't any smoother on their side
than it is on our side.
i. They have a two or three grasstrack segments.
j. They have alot of arrows up already that make
it much easier to find your way through the woods.
This Enduro
is going to be tough. It's all about
excessively bumpy ground, either from the rocks, the mantrap holes or the just
plain bumpy dirt. There are alot of trail segments through popple sections. Whatever we can do to make it more fun would
be a "good thing". It would be
nice to get into third gear somewhere in the woods somehow.
Thank Tim,
Roy, Jessie and Jon K. for putting in the bridge last Sunday.
Ken
As of this
Saturday, the actual trail work that many people have been working so hard to
complete will be DONE. Just a little
more improvement on the end of Section "F" is all that is needed and
that should take only 1/2 day. This has
been a MONUMENTAL accomplishment by our club. Don't forget that MOTR has done
one heck of a job putting in an equal amount of trail so, they deserve a big
old pat on the back as well.
I have the
preliminary route sheet with the Corner Markers all figured out. There may be
some changes to the checks and resets but, I believe that the Corner Marker
locations are all decided. Note that
there is also some
interesting
info in the route sheet like, how long each section is and how much road
mileage is used, etc..... I'll have
paper copies of it with me this weekend.
We will be
running the whole MINI Enduro and running 5 checks and doing signup and sound
testing and
preriding
and sweep riding and scoring and.....
We will need checkers the most so, don't forget that anyone can help
with a check. We will be driving trucks
out to the checks so checkers don't even need to know how to
ride a
motorcycle or ATV. So, feel free to
invite friends and family for that. We will be having our Check Meeting at 8:30
PM on Saturday night. All volunteers
will need to be at the Lodge on Saturday night at 8:30. We are again planning
to have a free Saturday night Straight Arrows feed before the check
meeting. Thanks to Cheri for that.
Note that
we will be camping outdoors in OCTOBER.
The temperatures can and probably will get down into the 30s at night. So, as they say in the old
and/or
umbrellas for rainy conditions as well, just in case.
Regards,
Ken
