Announcements

·         If you know you’ll be at G’burg March 31, contact Mike Murphy. Only a few have said would be there early.

·         The weekends before a Grantsburg race are work weekends. Assume that Murph will be there to put you to work, but please don’t assume that we will already have enough people. If you’d like to help, just show up

·         2007 Dues are due. Please take the time to submit them promptly as it would relieve the treasurer and secretary of the distasteful job of sending out reminders.

·         The Dues structure has been changed. It is now: Jan 1 thru April 1: $50, April 2 thru July 1: $75, after July 2, you’re out. $100 to buy back in.

·         Dues can be sent to:

Roy Fleming

14550 94th St. N.E.

Elk River, MN 55330

·         Don’t forget that we decided to schedule the April meeting one week earlier than normal, because of the timing of our races.

Club Meeting Minutes, from March 21, 2007

Attendance (100% accuracy not guaranteed)

Club Members – Jack Bondus, Bob Chase, Taylor Currie, Ken Fastner, Roy Fleming, Charlie Forrest Jr., Scott Haraldson, Bob Housh, Nathan Huskamp, Jon Kemnitz, Tim Kight, Jeff Klien, Mark Krey, Chuck Kurkowski, Doug Less, Bob Maki, Mike Murphy, John Otto, Aaron Petty, Jeff Terrio, Ross Thompson, Ron Wilhelm

Prospective members – Duane Nienow (3rd), Mike Pohl (1st), Dave Anderson (2nd), Dan Holmes (1st)

·         Budget Committee – The expense reimbursement forms are online and Mike Murphy will bring copies to the races. Please use these for all expenses. Only when the committee starts getting enough of these will they be able to analyze where money is going.

·         D23 Meeting – John Otto attended a mandatory rules meeting, prior to the actual meeting March 7th. We were required to have at least one person attend this meeting or a similar one April 4 at 5:00. One rule change this year at the AMA level is what I’ve dubbed the “screw KTM” rule. After making a 144 specifically for the allowed increase in displacement, the AMA then decided that the bike must start as a 125, making the 144 ineligible for the class. If someone is racing a (built as) 144 in the 125 class, they can be protested.

·         Grantsburg Race Prep / Planning

o        There were many people at the work day March 24. The track is thawed and had plenty of people riding on it (don’t know who half of them were). The re-routes that were done are getting burned in.

o        Trophies – Greg Nelson will arrange for the proper quantities to be at the track. Scott Haraldson will be in charge of getting them from that point into the awarded rider’s hands.

o        Roy has been getting us stocked up on the necessary supplies for the race.

o        A few members are becoming Notary Publics so that we can complete the AMA Competition Card forms.

o        Flagging – Mike Murphy figured out what an hourly rate would be, so if we can’t get a large enough group to take care of it, we could hire a few individuals to cover it.

o        Sound Testing – We are planning on a specific time frame (TBD) that riders can have voluntary sound testing done on Saturday. As the ref, John Otto will pull a few after practice on race day and send them for sound testing. He also suggested having a sign at the entrance telling people about enforcing sound levels.

o        Getting a few Biffys out in the pit area was discussed with no clear decision made. The outhouse was still frozen as of the meeting, but on the work weekend a few days later, it seemed to be on its way to thawing out.

o        KTM Demo day - No word yet from KTM.

·         Grantsburg schedule / fees:

o        Saturday Practice will run from 11:00 – 5:00

o        Practice fee - $20 Race Entry - $30, Gate Fee – $8

o        Raceday Signup to start @ 6:30, Practice @ 8:30, Riders Meeting @ 9:30, Race @ 10:00

o        Vehicles arriving before practice is over will not pay camping (won’t necessarily advertise it that way)

o        Race sign-ups will be accepted during Saturday practice.

o        Gates will open @ 9:00 Saturday morning and close @11:00 pm. Will re-open @ 6:00 am Sunday.

·         GIA – Should get another check because of a clerical error in the 2006 paperwork. Still haven’t received word back about 2007, but the DNR typically is very slow in returning that. There are some fairly ambitious plans this year, the biggest of which is a 30 foot bridge.

·         Holyoke – Ken is looking for another section leader.

·         Stone Lake – Club participation will be the same as last year, with MOTR doing half of the trailwork and all of the logistics. SAER will do the other half of the trailwork and provide volunteers for event day.

·         Roster – The secretary was reminded that the roster has not been sent out for quite a while and therefore has quite a bit of inaccurate information. After getting the email list as accurate and complete as possible, the secretary will send out copies of the spreadsheet. The width of the pages and number of sheets doesn’t lend itself well to printed copies.

·         The constitution changes will be sent out in April. The roster verification above will be completed first.
