Announcements

·         There was a lot of discussion at the recent club meeting on noisy bikes at the track, and how this is what gets riding areas shut down! Tim stated that he could clearly hear people riding while sitting up on HWY 70, including someone with a too loud woods bike.  There is no reason to have a loud bike if you’re play riding, and if you bring a friend with a loud bike, you’re just ruining your own play area. A lot of good suggestions were made for sound abatement, including:

o        Closing the start area to riding if not a race date, no practice starts

o        Enter the track from behind the club house

o        Close off the parking lot section of the track and use the 65cc cut-off for play riding days

o        Bring back the sweeper section for play riding

o        Limit the days and time for play riding (no evening riding)

o        Raise dues $25 and give everyone a DB Dawg. Tim volunteered to bring a DB Dawg and a muffler to the meeting and show everyone how easy it is to put in and take out.

·         Never too early to send in 2008 dues. The Dues structure is: Jan 1 thru April 1:  $50,  April 2 thru July 1$75,  after July 2, you’re out.  $100 to buy back in.

·         Dues can be sent to:

Prospective members –Dave Anderson (5th), Chris Gendron (3rd), Ben Horgen (3rd)

·         ARMCA Meeting Report

o        DNR has been receiving complaints about dirt bike riding in the Nemadji during deer hunting season (note: this is NOT a good idea). There is some consideration to having a closed to riding season because of this.

o        2008 MX class changes were discussed, these were later superseded by new AMA classes:

§         122-125cc 2-stroke

§         122-250cc 2 and 4-stroke

§         122-open 2 and 4-stroke

o        A $10 non-competitive Associate membership will be created.

o        Pre-meeting of Promoters agreed to MX schedule, including the two dates we wanted.

·          New Members - Chris Gendron, Dave Anderson, and Ben Horgen were voted in as probationary members unanimously, having completed their three meeting initiation.  It was noted that the club Secretary should email them copies of the Club Constitution and By-laws.

·         Grantsburg

o        We have had sanctioned two MX dates in 2008, April 13 and May 4, with practice days on the preceding Saturdays.  We’re also considering the March 22, 23 weekend for an open MX practice, weather allowing.  This was not scheduled at the Sanction Meeting, but members there found out how to add it later (if we want to use AMA insurance).

o        Ben Horgen suggested having a Quad only MX on April 4,5 and it was discussed.  Bike guys were not terribly enthused about it, and would like to see the quad races run by quad guys.  It was tabled for later discussion when more of the membership is in attendance.

o        The new club house walls and ceiling are up, but it’s only the same four people (one with a broken ankle) working on it.  The roof is ready for shingles, and this needs to be done soon.  The weekend of Dec 8,9 is planned, and a large turn out of club members is needed to get this done!  Tim has all the equipment ready, contact him or Roy for details.

·         Enduro

·         Since Ken was out of town, not much discussion on the enduro.  Our agreement with the NEPG covering our responsibilities was shown, but it seems like this should not be much different from what we normally do.  Scoring will be done by the NEPG, and we already have a copy of the scoring software to try out.  We will need a lot of participation from club members though, as there will be maybe twice as many entries as usual.

·         Chris Gendron talked about his experiences with horse riders in the Nemadji.  The last time he was there they were all over, and seemed annoyed at the dirt bikers.  There was discussion about getting along with all the users in the forest, and being careful about what might be on the trail.
