Club Meeting Minutes, from January 30, 2008 (Thanks Greg Nelson for taking notes)

Attendance:

Club Members – Ken Fastner, Tim Kight, Jessica Kight, Dave Anderson, Greg Nelson, John Otto, Ross Thompson, Scott Harldson, Matt Stavish, Justin Wilhelm

Prospective members – Dan Ferderer, 1st meeting

·         MN Moose Run

o        1st National Enduro occurred without incident and they used transponders.

o        Ken suggested a two-day national Enduro event.  Saturday with a kid’s event, family Enduro and the C riders.  Sunday with B, A, AA only. The two-day event was tabled until next month.

o        Ken will work with the DNR to get extra help with the National.  A few CO’s, closing trails, road guards, etc.

·         GIA  / Trails

o        The Grant-in Aid Supplement was received.

o        A few weeks ago, Ken went to Nemadji to scope out connecting trails etc.  XC Skiis and Snowshoes were the means of transportation.

o        A trail in Roy’s section is not a public trail and so can be treated accordingly as far as routing and sustainability.  It is hoped that this trail section will be used to test the AA riders.

o        The Grant in Aid Supplement will pay for the bridge we built last fall and any trail work that we will do until the 2008 agreement is signed (~ May).

o        Waiting for the signature on the 2008 GIA application (~$xxxxx ).

·         Grantsburg

o        Discussed the possibility of a Quad moto cross and or a Practice Weekend.

§         1st vote:  Do we want to have either of these events?  4 in favor, 3 against

§         2nd vote:  Whether or not to run a Quad motocross the 1st weekend in April;  0 in favor , 1 against

§         3rd vote:  Hold an outlaw Practice the last weekend of March:  4 in favor, 1 against

§         The practice will be for both bikes and quads and will be for Saturday and Sunday.  Other details to be worked out.

o        Village of Grantsburg wants to know what our schedule is for this year so they can put it on their web site.

·         The new “Enduro of the Year” trophy Ken had made was displayed at the meeting.  It costs the club $xxxx.

·         Matt Stavish was voted in as a Probationary Member. Darrell Ion was voted in as a Full Member.

Example of a Route Sheet with a Pause (instead of a Reset) – Matt Stavish

30 mph

check 1- 15.0 miles = 0:30:00 keytime

              15.5 miles = pause for 10:00

              16.0 miles = 0:42:00 keytime

As you can see, the clock doesn't stop, pause time is simply added to the keytime, route sheet time and check times following the pause. You can think of it as a reset only using time instead of mileage.

Example - If a rider is five minutes late to check one he gets a five minute break. If a rider is 11 minutes late he'll be a minute late leaving the pause.

I think it's a better method. At a glance you can see the length of the race, sections and distance between gas stops without subtracting for resets. If the race is 75 miles that's what it is on the route sheet. I think the only reason pauses have not caught on until now is because for the timekeeping purest (with a oddo and watch) adding the pause times mentally would be confusing. ie; everyone knows 16.0 at 30 mph is 32:00 but that's not the case when pauses enter in.

The Scoring Building

Thanks to everyone who came to the track on Sunday, a real good turnout and lots of stuff was

accomplished in only 4 hours.  Shingling is all complete and the sheetrock is on the ceiling.  The front deck flooring is installed.
