Having
practice days the day before the MX races was discussed. Discussion was tabled
for next meeting.
·
Because
of occasional conflicts with the District meeting, it was agreed that the
meetings would now be held the last Wednesday of the month, starting in
January.
·
Trail
work at Gilbert is completed for the year. Ken Fastner, Ron Palm, Greg Nelson,
Mike Murphy and possibly others all helped out. Other trail work may need to be
done in the not yet opened Virginia off-road park.
·
A date
was picked for the Winter Club Party, February 7th. Rob Murphy has
offered to have it at his house again. A few other ideas were kicked around
including bowling and carting. Feel free to suggest other ideas, but ones that
cost the club a lot of money probably won’t happen.
·
There
was some brief discussion about the club roster. The Secretary agreed to get a
current copy out to the membership, including (as was insisted upon) whether
they are current on their dues.
·
If you
have become a member recently and have not yet received a club jersey, contact
Mark Krey, or he may just bring some to the next meeting. mkracing33@aol.com
·
Bob
Chase is planning on submitting race stories to Cycle USA for next year’s
Grantsburg races and possibly other north MX races. If you can provide race day
photos, please contact him at bob@mxbob.com.

Annual District
Meeting, December 6, 2003
(Edited for the
Web)
Most of the new MX classes got voted in including not 1, but 4 classes
for the little plastic toys that they call mini quads. Also 45+A and 45+B/C
were voted in. Splitting the minis into Novice and Intermediate was voted down.
Ken’s proposal to remove the club membership requirement lost by one vote. Bob
Chase was re-elected to MX 125 Rep and Ken Fastner was elected to the Trail
Rider Vice Chairman.
There were not too many club riders getting year end awards at the MX
Banquet this year. Lana Merkley finished 9th in the Women’s class.
She is looking to do more regional and national events next year. Bob Chase was
9th in the 40+A class, earning a once in a lifetime opportunity to
ride with an earned, single digit number. He looked to have wrapped up the
distinction of “Slowest A Rider with a Single Digit Number”, but late in the
year, a certain suspension specialist slipped into the top 9 of 25+A, and took
that title away.

An elder
club member holds up an obvious forgery while a bemused Lana tries
to keep her
authentic version from getting too close. And no, black, red, and gray
are not the
new club colors.
