·         2007 Dues are due.  Please take the time to submit them promptly as it would relieve the treasurer and secretary of the distasteful job of sending out reminders.

·         The Dues structure has been changed.  It is now: Jan 1 thru April 1:  $50,  April 2 thru July 1$75,  after July 2, you’re out.  $100 to buy back in.

Club Meeting Minutes, from June 27, 2007

Attendance:

Club Members – Mark Brunsberg, Bob Chase, Ken Fastner, Darrel Ion, John Otto

Prospective members – Mike Pohl (4th), Ben Horgen (2nd)

·         Grantsburg – Not much to report. The sign in the front needs to have the 9/16 date added to it.

·         GIA – No change from last month. Bridge is still in the plan.

·         Holyoke

o        We will not be based out of Holyoke this year due to the roadwork on Co Rd 8.  The Town Board that decides to rent us the space is divided on if they want to continue our arrangement.

o        The alternatives for Holyoke were:

§         The ex-golf course, which would be a roundabout drive to get to, but would have plenty of private parking.

§         The gravel pit, which is closer to the main roads, and has enough parking, but is more “public”.

·         Stone Lake – Event went pretty well except for a few dropped checks.  We had 142 Enduro and 21 MINI entries. Still undecided on what will do next year but the HS idea was bandied about again.

·         Mike Pohl attended his fourth meeting, and since the vote was already put off once, we decided to vote, even with the low attendance of the meeting. He was voted in as a probationary member. Welcome to the club.

Holyoke Enduro Update – by: Ken

The Enduro will be based at Duquette this year.  We have dibs on the Town Hall and the Town Campground for the weekend of the event.  Many thanks to the Duquette Store owner, Andy Gunderson, for suggesting this and setting this up.  If you are going up to work and plan to spend the night, I would suggest that you check out the campground.  It’s pretty nice.  Don’t forget that the bar on the south end of Duquette serves breakfast pretty early in the morning.

Looks like the MINI will be at Mike Dahl’s this year.  Although Center Road is still under construction, it is drivable.  They tore out the old Net River culvert at Holyoke.  The bridge is under construction as of last weekend.

The Enduro route is pretty much figured out.  It’s about 7 miles to the actual Enduro trails and it will be about 10 miles back to Duquette after the Finish.  Other than that goofiness, the route looks pretty darn good.  The actual Enduro trail miles are less than usual (about 60 vs 75)) though so, we are looking for more mileage anywhere we can get it.  The DNR Permit has been adjusted to the new Route.

We are debating as to whether or not we will run the National Enduro based Restart Format for our Enduro.  This simply means that we would change the Hot Checks into Restarts.  There are mixed feelings in the Enduro community about this but, I don’t believe that anyone really HATES the idea.  If you are interested in checking this out, go to:   http://www.amadirectlink.com/rulebooks/supps/2007/NEC.pdf

The July 25th Club Meeting will be the last one before Enduro so, please plan to be there.  Don’t forget that we need lots of people for Check Crews on Enduro weekend.  No experience is required, friends and relatives would do just fine.  You can drive a car to almost every check so, dirt bikes and/or ATVs are not needed.  Bug spray is provided by SAER.  Everyone that is to be on a check crew MUST be at the Duquette Town Hall at 8:00 pm on Saturday night.  If you show up on Sunday morning we will find something for you to do but, the check crews for all 10 checks are determined at that meeting.  Besides, it’s a chance to camp out with fellow SAER types and find out what they’re really like with a couple of beers in them.  One thing’s for sure, they look better in the dark.

The Section Leaders for this year are Ron Palm, Roy Fleming and John Otto (that’s two fewer than usual).  These poor fellows need all of the help that they can get.  There will be work going on up in the woods every weekend from now until the Enduro.  They also need people to arrow and take down arrows, preride and sweep ride on the weekend on the event.  If you are looking for some seat time on your dirtbike and/or if you want to help them get ready for the Enduro, give them a call.  There’s plenty to do.
