It is very important that everyone

check plus scorers and other jobs.
If club members or other volunteers are not at this meeting, we will not assume
that they will show up later.

We
are still looking for a moto chair for next
year. While it is know by all that
voting does not happen for the position until next November, the current moto chair feels that it would be in the best interest of
the club to have a few prospective members step forward now to learn the ropes
in our last moto of the year so they are not
completely lost next year. Anyone who
has interest in filling this position should let Matt Leebens
know as soon as possible – by the next meeting at the latest.
·
Mike
Murphy spoke with Tim Kight about new buildings for
the property. Tim has a shed, right now,
that could easily be converted into a nice new scoring shack. For the modest price of $200, Tim will sell
this unit to the club and we should be able to have a new shack for the Aug. moto. The current
scoring shack will be pulled over to the mini track. Failing a successful pull to the mini, the
current shack may end up in the fire pit.
More on that story later.
·
Mike
Murphy also spoke with Tim Kight about options and
cost of erecting a new clubhouse. This
would be of the non-permanent, shed type building like the new front gate shed
– only much larger. However, those plans
and prices did not show up at the meeting.
So the subject will be held over until the next meeting. No biggie, since we won’t be able to really
do anything until after the fall moto anyhow.
·
Mike
Murphy has spoken with Dave Muhls (sp?). He is willing to put in sand point wells at
G-burg for COST!!! He goes up and rides
the property w/ Skip and feels it is the least he can do for us. So we just have to buy the sand points, pipe,
and pumps. Somebody (probably Mike) will
have to meet with him up at the track sometime to figure out how many and
where. One of the questions Dave has it
about the types of pumps. Gasoline or
electric is going to make a big difference.
He says 3-phase electric motors would work the best. We need to get some expert advice on
electricity – Which leads us to our next point…
·
Ross
Thompson is going to look into the current power situation at Grantsburg. We want to run electricity out to the new
scoring shack as well as to the new pumps (if we go that direction). Ross is going to come up with a plan of
attack. – Before the next moto.
·
Website
has been updated. Check it out, it looks
great. – Thanks Mark!
·
John
Otto has updated the hotline to include enduro news. – Thanks John!
·
The
subject of scoring the enduro came up.
We need to have laptop computers with Microsoft Excel installed to score
the event. John Otto will make sure
those computers show up there.
·
Trophy
options for the enduro were shown around and suggestions were made. Greg Nelson will put in the final order.
A detailed
account of the clothing discussion as reported by secretary in waiting, Mark Krey:
Here is what I know for sure we discussed after I arrived late:
Club jackets:
Mark Krey checked with Jack at Road, Track
and Trail and found out what enduro jackets would cost the club,
or club members if we decided to get them.
Jack checked with both the Parts Unlimited and Tucker/Rocky reps, they
responded back enthusiastically, to the idea of roughly 60 club members
wearing their jackets ( moose and msr,
respectively). They both inquired as to sizes/quatities,etc..., and what the timing of
the purchase might be. both also felt that a latesummer/fall purchase would work with their '05 product
introductions, and while their was no commitmant on
specific pricing, both were talking of 10-20% below "dealer"
price,...an example would be '05 moose xcr jackets at
$85.00-$95.00; msr "system x" at
$80.00-$90.00.
Fall/spring type jackets:
Ken Fastner will check into these and also
into getting them embroidered too (he has a connection of sorts).
The jacket discussion went kind of like this:
Some club members thought the enduro jackets sounded like a good idea
(a few club members seemed really interested, others seemed interested and
some dont want them). Some wanted the spring/fall
jackets that would be embroidered, some would probably get both and
others, of course, are just waiting to see what happens. One option that was
mentioned was that maybe the club would get some of both-depending on who would
want them. We will decide more next month was the clubs viewpoint. A question
arose during the discussion, do we have to order 60 to get thet
price? Mark will check on that with Jack to see if there is a minimum order
needed.
Club hats:
Were mentioned as well, alot of members
seemed to like this idea. MM will check into this idea.
Club tee-shirts:
Could be worn when members are doing trail
work as well as working at the track on race day. This
was overall agreed upon as a very good thing to identify us as club members who
do the trail maintainence on the trails at Nemedji. Then everyone who goes by us as we are working
would know who we are! Ken Fastner would need many as
he pratically lives up there in the summer! Mike
Murphy will be checking into these with the guy who did our enduro tee shirts
last year.
Club jerseys:
Mark Krey will check into and get a price for
another order. It was also discussed about not getting them again and doing tee
shirts instead.
Mike Murphy will also bring a catalog and price sheet to the
next meeting. This will be for Jackets,
t-shirts, sweatshirts, long sleeve T’s, hats, etc. From the same person that brought you the 35th
Annual Moose run T-shirts.
·
There
was more discussion on who will do the grading of the track. Rob Murphy has
expressed that he is no longer interested in doing it, but will for the August moto, if necessary. Rob has contacted Tyler Olson of Olson
Power Equipment in North Branch.
·
Having
Saturday practice was AGAIN discussed.
Having more equipment to do a faster job of grading would allow this to
happen. The job that Olson Power Equipment does on the Aug. race will make a
difference. Tabled for another month.
·
Club Trip – National Enduro in
o
Holiday Inn has special rates. Contact Ken Faster or
Roy Fleming if you are interested in going.
