· MN Moose Run
o After considering the options, it was decided that we will run the Enduro as we normally do. The MINI will be on Saturday, all main event classes will be on Sunday and there will be no “Familiy Enduro”.
o Ken needs a Sction Leader assistant to do the arrowing, de-arrowing, and other work related to the Enduro itself. This would be a good way to learn the ropes to become a section leader in the future.
o The transponders for the scoring are required. The amateurs will need to buy or rent them. Some one from the club will need to hold, track and return the rental deposits after the event.
o Matt Stavish brought in the first draft of the poster promoting the event. Prospect, Steve Podraza, printed out a few full and partial-sized copies of them. They look good but some details need to be changed.
o NEPG.com will provide a link to our pre-entry form. We do not have one yet, but need one fairly soon. Ken and Matt were going to look at some of the ones already out there and make one for our event.
o There were some questions about sponsors. We need to decide how to qualify as a Sponsor and what they would get for their money.
o We talked about giving away door prizes during scoring. Dave Anderson is heading up the effort to get Sponsors and obtain door prizes.
o There was some talk about limiting entries.
o Our web site needs a list of the hotels in the area. Ken will take care of this.
o Ken is working with the DNR to get the appropriate trails closed on our event day.
· GIA / Trails
o New single track. No progress since last meeting
o Our grant for this year is working itself through the approval process. So far, so good.
· Grantsburg
o The spring practice is on!! (weather permitting, of course).
§ Murph is still checking into insurance options. We can always use the AMA’s if we have to.
§ A deal was struck with the person doing the grading where he assumes part of the risk. Compared to his usual charge, it could be up to $xxxx less if there is a poor turn-out and up to $xxxx more of there is a great turn-out.
§ For this weekend, we will flag it ourselves. The club is looking for ways of saving or earning money to pay for the signup building. This would save around $xxxx. There are two 6-hour days with 8 stations. It was decided to use 2-hour sessions, which means 48 slots to fill. It seems like a lot, but according to the latest records there are over 50 active members. Some bring plenty of guests up to the track, so they could be possibly hit up to flag also.
§ Decided to charge $30/day or $50 for both days, with no camping or entry fees.
§ We were going to try to get something in the Grantsburg paper about it. At the previous meeting Ron Wilhelm said he would look into it. Secretary may need to provide some copy.
o D23 wants Sound Testing is to be done consistently at each track. There will be promoter pre-meetings before the regular D23 board meetings, April and May.
o Mark Krey brought a map of a track expansion, which would be done after the spring motos. It got a somewhat cool reception, as it was thought to involve cutting down some precious trees (wasn’t he the same one that wrote a poem bemoaning the loss of a few trees last year), although a few there thought it would be mostly brush.
o Mark also brought up the idea of a LLQ in 2009. That received a collective “hmm, interesting......” in response. Mark will get more details.
o Ken’s idea to think about before next meeting – Charging our “guests” when they playride at Grantsburg to help pay for the new signup building.
· A motion was made to add the following rule – When practicing on non-event days, riders should not use the Parking Lot section (go through 65 cut-off) or practice holeshots on the start line. It carried but, Ken had to cast the tiebreaker vote.
· Duane Nienow was voted in as a fully vested member, Lana Merkley was voted in as a probationary member.
President’s addendum:
The question came up at the meeting whether or not probationary members are allowed to vote at club meetings. After reading the Club Constitution,Bylaws and Rules, it seems clear that probationary members CAN vote. Sorry about the misunderstanding. - Ken
