Announcements

·         The 2003 Holyoke Enduro was named Enduro of the Year at the recent District 23 Off-road banquet! This is the second year in a row that the club has won it. It’s a great to see some outside recognition for all the hard work that is done by Ken, the section leaders, and everyone who has helped make these events happen.

·         The Constitution Changes ballot will be sent out within the next month. To vote, you must be a non-probationary member who has paid his 2004 dues. If you meet these criteria and do not vote, it will be the same as if you voted No to all the amendments. Please do your clubly civic duty and vote.  A 2/3 vote of all members eligible to vote is needed to make a change.

7:14 - Meeting comes to order with a confused club president at an alternate meeting location.

·         There was a lot of discussion at the District meeting about the overbore rule and how the AMA wants it strictly enforced this year. According to the way the rules are written, the promoter is not supposed to be the one responsible for tearing down a protested bike. The protested party is supposed to tear it down and then someone else does the actually measuring or inspecting.

·         Greg placed an order for the trophies. He estimated that he ordered enough for 3 races. The total bill will be $4200, payable in installments.

·         A motion was made to allow the trophy guys to ride the track under the following conditions: The track will only be available when it is not being worked on, this is only for the weekend that they deliver the trophies, if it is race weekend, they have to sign the waiver sheet.

·         It is believed that the changes to the Burnett County zoning structure will not affect the club property. There is no need for more than one club member to be at the next zoning meeting.

·         There was discussion about the Grantsburg track, being better neighbors, and trying to get more connections back to the local community. No resolution or motion was made, although it was agreed by the members present that it’s better if the bon fire does not look like a reenactment of Apocalypse Now.

·         After the D23 off-road banquet, it was agreed by all the enduro trail bosses that there should be sound testing for all the competing vehicles at every event. They hope to get the district to buy one or two of the testing units. If the sound testing is implemented, there will need to be a few people at the enduro to be trained on the use of the equipment and then perform the tests. At this time, this will be the only thing checked at the vehicle inspection.

·         After many revisions, all the grant-in-aid trails are on the DNR’s new map. These maps have been put out on their website for a 2 month public comment period which started February 2. After that, the commission will vote on accepting the maps. At some point after that, they will supposedly put up the “motorcycle trail” signs.

·         There was some discussion about who is eligible to vote on the Constitution Changes. It was agreed that the active (non-probationary) member needed to have dues paid for 2004 in order to be eligible to vote. The votes will not be tallied until the next club meeting, so dues can be paid up until then.

·         The secretary was instructed to print in the newsletter the names of active and probationary members who have not yet paid 2004 dues.

·         There was some discussion about adding Life Members to the club. It was agreed that this would need to be a constitution change. The current rules concerning dues will still apply until this change is voted on and passed. This change will not be included in this round of changes.

·         There was some discussion about the Constitution Change process. The secretary was instructed to snail mail to all members, even ones with email. Since the secretary is set up for bulk mailings, smoke signals, or any other vintage forms of message distribution, this could delay the process somewhat. It was agreed to accept this delay or to “outsource” the mailings.

9:23 – Meeting adjourned, pizza consumed, stories told…
