Club Meeting Minutes, April 27, 2005
Attendance – 15
Current Members; Mark Brunsberg, Bob Chase, Bill
Corcoran, Ken Fastner,
Charlie Forrest, Jon Kemnitz, Mark Krey, Bob Maki, Mike Murphy, Greg Nelson,

Prospective Members – Megan Rhode (2nd), Mike

·
Lee
Larson was not voted in as a vested member. The few that knew who he was had
not seen him at any meetings or events for quite a while.
·
Tom
Peterson asked about a quad only race. It would be somewhat contingent on the
district doing something to insure single quad dates. A general thumbs up was
given to continue to look into it. Bob Chase as tried in the past to propose
district rules to cut down on the triple
dates, which is a very similar problem to the quad double dates, but has had
the door slammed every time. The knee-jerk response is always that it would
unlawfully interfere with commerce. The early response for quad-only dates
seems better.
·
Mike
Murphy found two Honda water pumps like what we needed in the clearance bin at
Northern Tool. His sharp eye enabled us to get two $400 pumps for $350 (for
both).
·
Jackets
– Nothing has changed. Mike may order a few singles of the different clothing
available and then people can see what they look like.
·
GIA
– The 2.9K supplement is still in the works and is looking fairly likely to go
through. The 2004 funds may not be available for quite a while. The spring work
priority therefore remains
·
Potlatch
Leases – Things look OK so far. The leases we know about are in friendly hands.
·
Fence
Project – It was decided to go with welded wire for the parallel to 70 fencing,
all 1100 feet of it. Megan Rhode said there were some 4x4 timbers that her work
was going to throw away. Ken was going to follow up to see if we could use
them. Tim and Roy are figuring out the gate.
·
Ken
received a call from a nearby landowner who told him he though the races were much
louder than they used to be. It was a relatively friendly call, but provided
further evidence of the need to quiet the (valve-laden) bikes and quads down.
·
Since
Bob’s is MIA at Grantsburg this year, the club authorized Tom Peterson to buy a
few numbers and backgrounds to re-sell.
·
Mike
Murphy volunteered to walk through the practice queue and tell people with no
numbers to go back and put some on before they can ride. He may also make note
of any really loud bikes or quads. There was discussion about flagging people
off for sound testing and then warn them that next year they will be DQ’d if
they fail next year. We don’t want to do this unilaterally, so the D23 board
members in the club will find out what other clubs are going to do, if
anything.
·
Mark
Erickson no longer wishes to be the webmaster. There was some discussion of
giving someone a membership in exchange for doing the web site. The first thing
that needs to be done is decide what the goal of the site is and how much
revision it actually needs. It’s the secretary’s opinion that most people just
want to know when the races are and how to get to them, something the site in
its current form already does. Time or money spent on the website is unlikely
to lead to more riders attending the events.

The secretary claims the last ad would
have been just blank space were it not filled up, but a full investigation will
be launched to determine if any
abuse of power has taken place after
which a full investigation of why he is referring to himself in the second and
third person.
