Club Meeting Minutes, for April 26, 2006
Attendance
Club Members – Mark Brunsberg, Bob Chase, Ken Fastner, Charlie Forrest, Scott Haraldson, Jon Kemnitz, Greg Nelson, John Otto, Paul Spears
Prospective – Richardt Fleischmam (3rd)
· Questions to find out before next meeting about the ATV races
o What kind of numbers did the other Quad-only days have?
o What did the other tracks charge for entry fees?
o Do they need an ARMCA card to race only in non-points classes?
· Grantsburg Projects
o Watering upgrades (see MX Chairman note elsewhere in newsletter)
o Hwy 70 Fence is about 2/3 done. Is now livestock fencing rather than chain link.
o There are a few gates that need to be added for better ambulance crew access.
o Charlie Forrest will add TP holders and stall latches. Paul Spears mentioned something about adding hand sanitizers, but it didn’t sound like an actual commitment to do it.
· Property Purchase – [ Section edited for website]
· Computer Equipment – Roy may be donating (or selling cheap) his laptop to the club. This will be better than the second one we have now. Also, the printer went out at the last race. John Otto got a cheap ink-jet to replace it for now, but that won’t work well for copies (like late route sheet changes), so the club asked John to price out some lasers and come back with prices at the next meeting.
· Budget Committee – The committee convened once over the Easter weekend. The first task is to see where the money is going. They came up with a spreadsheet for entering expenses with categories that can be used for later analysis.
· New Trailer – Tim Kight proposed an idea for the club to add indoor space. Each year, Tim’s company puts up a shed for the State Fair. If club members would be willing to help put it up, then take it down, then help get it to the track, we could then have the materials and re-assemble the shed at the track. If we did this a few years in a row, we could add them together for one larger building. The club members present agreed to consider this and have more discussion when State Fair time draws near.
· Stone Lake Plan – The clock is tickin’. Event is June 17-18. Arrowing weekend will be same as our Quad-only date, but since we are not responsible for arrowing the entire course, there should only be a few people needed. Work schedules will be communicated by Ken via email.
· 2006 GIA application is making its way through the bureaucracy and looks to be approved for the 9K we asked for.
· Holyoke – Still talk of an Enduro Preview weekend. Trails need quite a bit of deadfall picked up. Ron’s (Roy’s? can’t read my own notes) section will need quite a bit of work this year.
· Richardt Fleischman was voted in as a probationary member.
I'd like to thank everyone for all of their hard work at the track for the past three races. From everything I've heard we did an outstanding job and we gained some ridership from people that haven't been there in years. I would think from the job we did we should have a really good turnout this fall. The fall practice I think we will run from 12:00-4:00 instead of 10:00-4:00. The fence out front looks great, thanks to Tim, Roy, Senior and whoever else helped to get that done.
There are a couple things I'd like to get done this summer:
Thanks again to everyone for putting on some great events! Tom Peterson
I’ve been talking with Bob Lind regarding our Quad race on 6/11/06. We have agreed to raise the entry fee to $30 per class to cover costs of having a 170 -200 rider turnout like they did at Brookston, they took a vote at the last Quad event and most of them were in favor of raising the entry fee to help offset the costs to the promoters. Also, there will be no cash payout for the A riders.
We also agreed to run all of the races on the big track, we will have three races that run the shortened track at the beginning of the race order and then the rest of them will run the full track minus the sweeper. This will free up about a dozen people that usually work on the mini track.
To Do’s:
Update: The $30 entry fee is not set in stone yet so we’re still at $25, Bob wants to see how some of the other quad only races go. If we can get 200 riders which I think is pretty lofty for the quad only race then we will do alright.
