Time unknown – Meeting starts with a non-watch-wearing secretary

·         There are several projects that need to be done. With our financial situation being better than last year, we can think about doing some of these. Below is a list of some of the things that need to be done. At the next meeting, think about these and any others you can think of and we will discuss them in greater detail. Some of these smaller ones may already be done before this goes to press.

o        Pretty up outhouse

o        Replace main scoring building

o        New sign-up trailer

o        Make a smaller scoring building for the micro track

o        Improve the fencing along 70, make more permanent.

o        Add another little deck for the 2nd district/AMA sign-up window.

o        Fix the window flaps on the sign-up trailer

o        Replace the sign-up trailer door.

o        Watering system improvements

o        Modifying the sleeping trailer to make part of it the trophy hand-out area

o        Bulldozer

·         Mike Murphy asked about the possibility of club members holding ATV training classes on our Grantsburg property. Ken F will look into what we would need to do. If anyone is interested in being a trainer, express your interest at the next meeting or contact Mike or Ken. We would probably figure out some sort of arrangement where the trainer and the club split the proceeds.

·         There was some discussion about the initial set of club rules. It was voted to remove a few and then date the others April 2004.

·         There were a few issues that Ken F would like brought up with the district. The first was the way our March 28 race was shown in the calendar. Many people were unaware that we had a race that day. The other was that the district charges an extra $10 for district sign-ups done at the track, we do this work to get them signed up, and then don’t get any of that extra $10.

·         Bill Corcoran explained what was going on with the zoning initiative. At this time, we will probably request to be zoned at Commercial / Recreational. A typical type of business for this classification is a ski hill. There are still a lot of unknowns, particularly about how this will affect our taxes. Bill will attend another meeting on April 26, which will include some of the bigger players in the process. We will probably have to commit to a zoning classification at that time, but given some of the unanswered questions we have, Bill will try to not commit until we absolutely have to.

·         The web site has been update and looks much more “modern”. There was some discussion about whether the newsletters should be on there. It was agreed that they could stay, as long as the secretary continues to edit out any sensitive information, such as club finance details.

·         Skip said he could finish the main road before the next race. It was agreed to give him the go ahead.

·         Mike Murphy asked if we would think about adding a concrete starting pad. General opinion was no, but the discussion was tabled for later.

·         The interior of the micro track was cleared of much of the brush. Also another tabletop was added.

·         Matt was contacted by someone concerning the camping on our property during the Grantsburg Water Skip event. They would shuttle people back and forth and it sounded like they would take care of collecting the fees. A motion was made to allow this, if the club does not have to do very much of the work. Matt will continue to talk with the person to get more details.

·         The secretary provided a list of non-probationary members in good standing. This will be used by the sign-up people to know who gets the free race entries.

·         It was agreed to divide up the race order into micro track classes and everyone else.

·         There was discussion about practice order. We will try to divide them into classes and run it A/B, C, 80s, Quads, 65s. An order will be printed and handed out to riders.

·         There was some discussion about a vendor hasn’t been paying the $100 vendor fee. Apparently, we waived the fee at a lightly attended race and he took that to be a permanent arrangement. The vendor was contacted and knows he needs to pay the fee.

·         It was brought up that we need to have more people working the front gate during the rush hour, which is typically about 6:30- 7:30.

·         A motion was made and passed to return Charlie Forrest Jr. to non-probationary, active member status. For newer members who might not know him, Charlie and his father are long time club members. He had been living out of state for the last several years.

·         Tom Peterson and John DeLuce completed their probationary period and were voted in as non-probationary members.
