Announcements

·         There is work that needs to be done at Grantsburg, cleaning up fallen trees etc. September 8th and 9th is a work weekend. Prior arrangements are not needed. If you show up, there will be no shortage of things for you to help with.

·         We have had some recent complaints from our Grantsburg neighbors about noise on non-race days. If you know you have a loud bike, please quiet it down before practicing at the track, and see to it that your guests are not excessively loud either. Mike Murphy has a variety of DB Dawgs that a club member can get for $25.

·         2007 Dues are due.  Please take the time to submit them promptly as it would relieve the treasurer and secretary of the distasteful job of sending out reminders.

·         The Dues structure has been changed.  It is now: Jan 1 thru April 1:  $50,  April 2 thru July 1$75,  after July 2, you’re out.  $100 to buy back in.

·         Dues can be sent to:

Roy Fleming

14550 94th St. N.E.

Treasurer’s Report

Due to the record turn-out, the Holyoke Enduro actually made quite a bit of money this year. (The enduro propping up losses at an MX. There’s a reversal. – Editor)   We also finally received our share of the proceeds for the Stone Lake enduro. Most of the expenses are paid, except for the ones from the club members. Ken Fastner is soliciting inputs from the Section Leaders so that he can put together the Grant-in Aid Expense report for 2007.

Current Club Balance - $xxxxxxx

Club Meeting Minutes, from August 29, 2007

Attendance:

Club Members – Bob Chase, Ken Fastner, Roy Fleming, Charlie Forrest, Scott Haraldson, Nathan Huskamp, Tim Kight, Mark Krey, Mike Murphy, John Otto

Prospective members – Matt Stavish (1st), Chris Gendron (1st), Nate Ferderer (1st, minor)

·         Grantsburg – There was some discussion about canceling the upcoming practice and race. This conversation was initiated by MX Chair, Mike Murphy, before he was aware of the current club financial situation. The concern was that we couldn’t take another loss like the Mother’s Day/ Fishing Opener race (May 13). After reviewing the attendance numbers through out the season and the club’s current balance, it was decided to not cancel the race. Another factor making this a quick decision was the concern that our reputation would be damaged by a late cancellation. The practice was debated separately. Roy Fleming provided some numbers showing the expenses for a race and a practice. Even though it seemed unlikely that the practice would be profitable, it was decided to hold it anyway, but with an increase of the practice fee to $25.

·         Holyoke/ GIA

o        With the trails not being changed much the last few years, they are slowly getting wider and faster, to the point that many feel they are a bit too fast. Ken brought up the idea of closing some of the older trails and replacing them with “fresh” single-track. As long as the same points are connected, this shouldn’t be a problem with the DNR. This would not tried to be done all at once, but would be an ongoing process, where each year would have some new trail.

o        Matt Stavish was at the meeting and asked the club if they would consider making Holyoke a National Enduro. A long-time competitor on the national circuit, he felt that Holyoke, and many of the D23 Enduros are as good, or better, than many of the national events he has attended. He did not believe there would be many extra tasks associated with it being a national event. After quite a bit of discussion, it was decided to try it. The application deadline for 08 was Aug 1, but Ken was going to apply anyway for 08, and also 09. It’s somewhat unlikely that it would be in 08, but that depends on the status of the other applications for the 08 nationals.

·         Stone Lake – A bit of a discussion about a HS next year and the efforts of another club to “muscle-in’ on the trails we created, but no motions or anything else resulted.

·         John Otto made a motion to limit bikes at Grantsburg to 96db. It was not seconded.
